TTMT for 1/16: Checking in!

…with a surprise visit from Peggy!

*waves* Time for an Update

Hi there, I didn’t make a video last week, and clearly am headed the same direction this week, so I wanted to pop in to say hi. I think I’m going to have to start recording my videos on the weekend, even if I don’t post them until Tuesday. Weekdays are hectic. 3 adults sharing 2 cars and then one vehicle ups and dies last week. So there has been a lot of shuffling. However, we got the old truck into the shop yesterday morning and it turned out to be an easy fix, so we are back to 2 vehicles at least!

Right now in the Project Room the only thing I have been doing is working on a “new” pressing station. I really like having the frame in the middle of the room, but it made it too crowded for the mobile pressing station I had made previously.

Remember this handy monstrosity?

So over the past couple of weeks I have completely emptied and disassembled it, and am in the process of taking some of the parts to make a new one. I plan to finish that this weekend, hopefully in time for my next video. I also need to get some of those finished quilts bound (nope, haven’t done that yet). Because the next Linus meeting is a week from Saturday.

Once the pressing station is done and quilts are bound, it’s time to start loading more quilts and getting them quilted. Also finishing piecing some UFOs. I will be so ready for Labor Day Weekend. I miss having more than just a regular weekend in which to do ALL THE THINGS.

I am behind watching videos but hope to be caught up soon.

Take care and stay crafty!

I quilted a thing! It’s trimmed and ready to bind. If I have enough of the yellow backing left I will just bind it with that. Hopefully I will. Y’all this is epic! I’m so glad to be quilting again! Woo!!

So I’m still waiting to receive what will hopefully get me quilting on my Qzone Hoop Frame. Meanwhile I’m binding a quilt for Project Linus that Jennifer quilted for me in December so that I have something to turn in at the February meeting. I also didn’t mention that I have a sideways shell blanket currently on the hook, but only work on it occasionally because of the wrist, so it’s likely going to take a while to finish. Welcome to February!

In which I talk about digging myself out from under Scrap Mountain and a brief bit about The Saga of The Quilting Frame. This week is a bit more Tell than Show. Hopefully next week will be more Show. Take care and have a crafty week!

Holding Pattern

I swore I was going to make a video this week, but as it hasn’t happened yet, and I have absolutely nothing crafty to show, I am going to wait and try to record on Monday so I can get my butt organized to post on Tuesday.

Things that have happened since last week: My new Juki 2000qi machine arrived, yay! Unfortunately I was missing a couple of key components to hooking it up on the Qzone Hoop quilting frame, but those parts should arrive Saturday. So I am gearing up to (FINALLY) start quilting again. My plan is to master this set up so that I can quilt ALL THE THINGS.

I sold my Arrow Gidget I table today on Craig’s List for only a little less than I paid for it, which is awesome. Some of that that money is going into the crafty kitty to save for “other things”. Meanwhile I’ve moved the Pfaff back onto the desk I was using before I bought the gidget. Yes, I know I have only had the table since May, but I’ve never been happy with it. It was “kinda” ok for the Kenmore, but I sold both my Kenmores to help buy the Juki. Priorities! I do not need 5 sewing machines, I do NOT.  That being said, the desk isn’t great for sewing with the Pfaff either, but it will do until I find something I think will work better, or sell the Pfaff, whichever comes first (Pfaff is currently listed on Craig’s List, too). As always, my project room seems to be a never ending work in progress, but I decided as long as I have my Singer 301A as my travel and/or emergency back up machine, I didn’t need the two Kenmores, anymore. I had kept the big one more for sentimental reasons than anything else. It was my aunt’s. I learned to quilt on it. I pieced and quilted TWO PoDs on it. But it was big, and it was a pain to have to use cams to do the different stitches, and I only have so much room and it just wasn’t WORKING for me and what I do as well as it used to. And the little one was so darn cute! But I didn’t need it the way I needed to be able to quilt again.

Other changes are coming, too, but let’s leave it at that for now. I think that’s enough to be going on with for now, don’t you?
