Happy TTMT everyone!
This upper respiratory infection is really kicking my behind, and I’m just not up for making a video this week. I did really push last week, however, to get a little bit of sewing done between napping and resting. I managed to finish the quilt that inspired me to want to learn how to quilt in the first place. I originally wanted to learn how to sew and quilt so that I could make a baby-clothes quilt for my then newborn. Now that my son is 10 years old (on Jan. 2nd), I have finally finished!!!! 
This quilt was definitely a labor of love, especially since I didn’t “math” before I started. I relied on the quilt gods and goddesses that it would all just work out. Many Y-seams and small fill-in patches later, it’s done!
Now, I’d love to say that I’m never making another quilt like this, but I have a 7-year-old daughter who is now waiting fo her quilt. I will, however, “math” that one out before I start. I have a king-size quilt on my longarm now that I’m working my way through, then I have a quilt for a customer, and then this baby-clothes quilt will be on the machine. Once I’ve got it all topstitched, I’ll make sure to show it again in a video. It’ll be another custom, hand-guided quilt job for me, since I’ll have to get around a lot of buttons and zippers that I left in.

What a cool thing to have done. I have a hand sewn half finished quilt from when my oldest was an infant. He is turning 26 in March. I can’t even explain what I was thinking at the time. Someday I may try to finish it. For now it’s in a box.

I enjoy building quilts without checking the math ahead of time. It gives my creativity a little workout. Whenever I see quilts like yours I always wish I knew about quilting when my kids were small. You still have 3 years to make your daughters quilt 😉

I wasn’t quilting until long after my kids were babies or I might have done something like this, too. I only kept one or two tiny outfits for the memories.
