Happy New Year!

No video this week—My current progress isn’t really in a good show off spot. But I did make progress this week—I got three different quilts pin basted and ready for quilting. My two Fandom In Stitches Star Trek Rowalong quilts and my bookshelf quilt that had been languishing for a few years. Yay! But all basted up is hard for me to show on camera, but I will add a few pics below of the finished tops. Very excited to get these quilted as two of the three are for ME and they will be the first large projects I’ve ever kept for myself.

I don’t expect to get much more done this week as we will be driving out of town this weekend to go pick up my stepdaughter’s ashes. I am working on focusing on making it a fun trip and finding joy in her life and the time and experiences we did have instead of just being sad (although I’m sure there will be some of that also). But it will be nice to come back to fun projects to work on next week. Meanwhile I wish everyone a happy new year and look forward to watching your videos.

Bonus pic of my cat Otis helping me lay out the layers for basting.

  1. I’m so sorry for your loss. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you. ♥

Your quilts are going to look fantastic, I am sure. My Star Trek quilt has ironically become a UFO. Who knows, maybe it’ll make a reappearance sometime this year!

Take good care and be safe.

  2. Sympathy to you. Hugs and prayers for you and your family at this time. I like your idea of remembering the fun and good things ( and like you said a few of the sad moments too.) with you loved one.

It feels a weird combination to follow this up with a very enthusiastic response to the quilts, but they’re worth some enthusiasm! They look really great and I can’t wait to see them finished up,

  4. I’m so sorry for your loss. I can’t even pretend to imagine. I love that you will look for the joy while realizing it will have grief as well.

I love the Star Trek quilts! The words on the bottom looks sharp.

The bookcase quilt is always fun. I need to start working on the embroidery for my YoD. So many books to choose from!

    Have a safe trip.
