You just don’t know what you will find when you dig deep in your sewing room. I have unearthed UFO’s, orphan blocks, a million 4 patches, 9 patches, a few flying geese, a shoe box full of HST and paired triangles.
The name of the group sew a long was in About.com with Janet Armstrong Wickell. We also had a doll quilt swap. It was a lot of fun and it helped push me out of my comfort zone! LOL!!!
Just when I think I know everything that is in my quilt closet, I am surprised by something I forgot I started. Love that feeling.
Some of my best work has been out of my comfort zone. When I start hearing the Monty Python line, “And now for something completely different!” I know I’m up to something.
Those blocks are wonderful. I’m sure you can find a block pattern you like if you need to replace the one you didn’t like. I’m eager to see you put those together.
I was eyeing the blocks on your wall. Those are beautiful.
Sounds like you found a box full of quilts…some assembly required! Wow! You’re going to be busy with those.
I have a ton of HSTs in a box that I haven’t looked at in years. I used to use all my scraps that were big enough for an HST but too small to put in my regular scraps, and I just put them all in a box. No idea how many. When I see these gorgeous HST quilts I think about them, but the quilts I like are usually really coordinated and mine are not. I’m not a random/scrappy kind of person by nature, so I’ll have to out of that comfort zone again to use them one day. Let us know what you decide to do with yours.
Your granddaughter is a lucky girl to have you. How fun. Sewing is, of course, essential to fashion, so you will get her off to a great start.
Great to see you and all your miscellaneous parts. Can’t wait to see the assembly.

The arrowhead blocks are very pretty. I love the soft colors.
The brights blocks from the qal are great, too. I remember when about.com was doing quilt-alongs! I never participated, but they were definitely on my radar.
So many patches ready and waiting for you…You’ve got instant quilts there!
Best of luck to your granddaughter on the cat quilt project. I definitely approve of the subject matter! š

Your granddaughter is a riot. Such a ball of energy. Iām looking forward to seeing what she comes up with. If you can get her to sit still long enough š

Sounds like you’ve got a good pile of stuff to work on… it’s kind of fun fishing things out of the closet, isn’t it? But maybe a little overwhelming sometimes too.
