TTMT #429 – jewells68 – May 31, 2022 – Cut Off Mid-Senten…

In which I show you a peek at the quilt top I just finished for my nephew Joel (it’s “the one with all the flying geese”) as well as let you take a look at my recently rearranged project room… yes, AGAIN, lol. What’s on the design wall this week? You’ll have to watch to find out!

  1. I love that blouse! Have I already told you that? Probably!

The borders look soooo good and I think the stencil will work great in the cream.

I’m glad sewing standing up works for you, that is great!

Also, because it has to be said… Hogwarts Stairs!

    1. I have never worn this blouse, lol. Like ever, it’s my first time wearing it since I bought it at savers a couple weeks ago. But I did think of you when I bought it! I was very excited that the hems at the end of the sleeves weren’t too tight on my flappy post-weight loss arms, lol.

So glad to have that top finally pieced and ready to quilt. Now to just get the backing pieced.

So far so good… especially now that I have those puzzle mats under my feet.

I know, ALWAYS with the rearranging, lol.

    1. I do love me some grunge… especially with the splashes of metallic throughout. So yummy! I can’t show this one off until I can take it to the shop to hang up, it’s too big to hang up anywhere here.

  2. Sewing standing up seems intriguing… I always thought it would be awkward for driving the machine, but have never tried it. (Wrong furniture, anyway, and not going to get anything new just to try it out. But I’m still intrigued.) Are you still enjoying it?

What I can see of the quilt for your nephew looks great… those fabrics are fantastic. I can’t wait to see more of that one.

    1. I am really liking it so far. I have a new anti-fatigue mat arriving today that should be better than the current garage floor puzzle mat I am currently using. It’s too wide so I’m having trouble keeping it in place. My new one is sort of a chef’s mat. We have them at the quilt shop and they really do make a big difference when you are standing for longer periods of time. But I am finding it definitely to be easier to get to everything I need, especially with the current room setup. Also I have very little cartilage left in one of my knees (old injury + old lady = future knee replacement) and so not getting up and down so often is easier on my knees and hip (yep, hip, too!). I swear I’m only 53 but some days I feel 80. Mainly though, I’ve spent so many years sitting all day at my previous jobs I need to increase my ability to stand for longer times.

I’m really happy with Joel’s quilt top, I just need to get my Moxie encoder fixed so that I don’t have to quilt it unregulated. I wanted to do a stencil or ruler work or maybe both and I can’t even practice that right now, sadly.

  3. I love Joel’s quilt! I’m glad you got it done. I know those flying geese were soooooooo many!
I’m intrigued by the standing sewing thing. I can’t do that with furniture. I don’t need to but I’m intrigued.

I spent a good 8 days in NC going through lots of my moms stuff. It definitely motivated me to start being more selective about what I keep. So much stuff that wasn’t necessary to keep. I made a million trips to habitat to drop of stuff. I think we all keep more than we should and it’s very freeing to get rid of the excess.

    Happy Crafting
