TTMT #406 – jewells68 – June 15, 2021 – Kinda Tired

tired jewells is tired

In which I show off the 3 quilts I donated to Project Linus this past weekend, as well as a top I pieced on Sunday from chopped up donated panels. I started my new job yesterday and am blazing through 22 software training modules so my brain is so fried right now. But I’m replacing someone who is retiring at the end of the month so I need to bust a move!

    1. I am SO going to sleep this weekend. Though it would be nice to get a *little* crafting in. Maybe Sundays will become my “sew-days”

I love this top too. It came together so perfectly!

So glad to get 3 quilts done and turned in… I’m going to have to have a quilting & binding marathon over the 4th of July weekend, if I can find the energy, lol. If not, I may get some stuff quilted but then start a pile to be bound the throughout the month. I’ll figure it out.

  1. First of all I want to say congratulations to your new employer for having the good sense to hire you!! I am sure you are going to knock the training out of the park.
Second, I can’t decide which of those quilts I like best, although I’m kind of leaning toward the Charlie Brown quilt with the moon block in the middle. They are all wonderful.
    Now, go get some rest.

    1. The CB and Snoopy silhouette is a really cute block, so I think out of the ones I quilted that one is my favorite. Out of just the retreat tops I made, I think the car one is my favorite, I may try to get that one quilted next.

The job is certainly a challenge. I’m not really 100% sure it is really a one-person job, but these days that seems to be the norm at companies, doing more with fewer people. That being said, I finally decided by the end of the week that I can do this, so I plan to go back next week, lol.

  2. The floral quilt top is very sweet.. the parts really do work well together.

The quilts do look really great … I love that balloon backing on the one. It’s a great backing fabric (and feels very apropos for where you live of course).

Congrats on the new job! I hope you’re settling in a little (though I know that can take a while).

    1. I really love how that floral top turned out. And am thrilled to get the older panel parts out of my stash where they have been languishing for YEARS.

I think once I get in the swing of things and get a routine and schedule down the new job will be busy but fine. It was jut ALL THE THINGS ALL AT ONCE, lol. Also the commute sucks, but compared to my old commute of a 7 minute walk, any commute would suck, lol.

  3. I didn’t expect a video from you.
I can only imagine how tired you must be. It’s a lot to do training and a new job after that long in a position.

The floral quilt is really pretty. I love how you pulled it together. Very Nice

The finished quilts look great. I love that you have moxie now to get them done.

    Happy Crafting

    1. Honestly, I’m amazed I got it done. This week I recorded on Monday after dinner so I could edit and upload Tues morning. This job, OMG, they really need at least one more part time person if not another full time. Thank goodness there are “backups” here that can help me as I get up to speed. I’m going to need them.

I really love how those two panels played so nicely together!

I am still having to quilt everything in Manual mode. I’m going to crank out as many e2e meanders/loop de loops as I can and set all others aside and hopefully I can just go step by step and get it to where regulated mode works, maybe over the July 4th holiday, so I can tackle ruler work again.

  4. Great job putting the flowers together. I love when I see something and immediately think, “Hey, that’ll go with that other thing I have!” Cream and white usually play well together.

I know that kind of tired. Mental exhaustion is so different from physical.

Beautiful work in the photos, too.

On that piece “leftover” from the apron — sometimes you have these orphan blocks that work well together but leave a hole in the center and it’s just crying out for another “block”. This may fill one of those spaces for you.

    Get some sleep!
