I also tend to not wash flannel when I use it as a backing. Only if I’m mixing it piecing a top with other fabrics do I even worry about it. It gets so soft and scrunchy I love it. And although a very simple pattern and simple quilting, I think it works well together and will make someone a wonderful squishy soft quilt.

I usually do pre-wash flannel because it shrinks a lot more than regular cotton, but it does really add to the crinkly look, which is something I love about quilts, so I say go for whatever you like best 😀
