I like the way you’re making the blocks for the memorial quilt. A simple 9 patch but a good way to use the fabric for the center squares by making that square larger.

If I hadn’t wanted to be lazy and just use my acuquilt cutter, I probably could have made them even bigger. I have so many squares of the clothing fabric left still.

WOW! I was wondering what you would decide to do with the scarf. That was a challenge. I just LOVE what you came up with.
I love hearing about you trying new things, and it sounds like you have that figured out. Remember to share photo(s) of the finished project. I often have to improvise/revise the plan as I go on something new, knowing that I have learned how I should have done it and don’t necessarily need to do it the right way at the moment.
So glad you and Jennifer O got to see each other. I know how much your time together means to both of you.

Jennifer helped me try out some ideas in her EQ8 for the final project so I could make a decision. I don’t think I ever want to work with French Fuse ever ever again. At least not as yardage. It might be ok in smaller bits like 10 in squares or something. It was so flimsy and flyaway.

That’s what worried me about it. I have seen more decorate (non-solid) scarves quilted ONTO quilts that are amazing, but a solid flimsy one would be difficult. EQ8 is amazing for decision-making. I usually can’t believe how fast an idea turns into a whole design on it. That one is not going to be fun, but it is going to be beautiful.

Having seen your progress, I know the memory quilt is coming along very nicely.
It’s such a bummer that the noodle basting turned out to be trickier than expected. I really hope you find a better way.

In the process of sewing the rows together now. I think I have 3 more seams to sew as far as that is concerned. I’ll need to determine if I have enough of the green strips to do the border.
Well I kind of sabotaged the noodle basting from the beginning by doing it on a surface that wasn’t really long enough. Next time I’ll make the effort to put it on a longer table.
Tell Eli I wasn’t offended. We were talking about quilts after all, and how can he be expected to stay awake for THAT after driving all day and all the hiking.

Thanks for your tips on the noodle basting. I use pins for my basting so hopefully it will work out better than the spray basting. I have a small table I have to use for basting so I’m hoping the noodles will help keep the fabric contained. Thanks for the idea,

If my next quilt is smaller I might try pin basting. I think what set me off it was having to be on the floor for so long. and then still having areas I had to repin as I as quilting the quilt. It took AGES. That’s why I had switched to spray basting before I got a quilting frame.
