In which I show you some recent fabric donations I brought home from Project Linus last weekend, along with my finished Linus quilt. I also brought home some of this lovely lady’s book collection, to go through and see if I wanted to save any of the patterns, but I totally forgot to show you those! So I will try to remember to show you those next week.

TTMT - Talk To Me Tuesday 
You got a lot done! Whenever I see the plushy patterns I don’t think of plushies, I think of applique. That’ll be challenging but fun. “We’ll see what happens there”…I understand. Can’t wait to see what happens.
Faux Redwork…excellent! My mom and I agreed to make a redwork quilt that looks a lot like that, and the blocks were cats…we were going to make it one day. We talked about it every few years since I was in high school. I still have the magazine pages and would still love to make it, but decided I’m probably going to make it with machine embroidery as my own “faux redwork.”
What a GREAT fabric haul! I’m always so impress your Linus group. Great to see you.

I actually have an idea that has him NOT being a dinosaur, now that I have him up on the wall staring at me. And Jennifer had a really fun suggestion, but I might use it for the smaller dinosaurs, because the main ones are REALLY big.
I have always loved the look of redwork. But with my arthritic hands it would take me YEARS. Maybe one of these days I’ll have an embroidery machine. Then I could do that too!
I seriously took hardly anything. There were ladies that brought huge sterlite bins and filled them up. There was SO. MUCH. FABRIC. And books, so many books.

Lots of fun fabrics! I sometimes make stuffies from those panels. My favorite are the book panels though. I like to turn those into quilts.

Since these were donated to Project Linus, I have to use them to make something for Project Linus, and they only accept blankets, so appliques is what they are going to be. 🙂

Space panels! I almost see a giant four or nine patch with those two fabrics. With dinosaurs, obviously! Everything you brought home is so nice and so great for kids. I know your brain is already percolating like crazy on that.
Susan’s quilt turned out great. I just love a pieced back, it kind of makes the quilt two sided!

No need to thank me, it was my pleasure! It’s always great to bounce my often insane and impractical quilting ideas off of you, lol.
I like the idea of the fourpatch, that might work since it’s such a narrow panel.

I love what you did with that insanely bright quilt. Who would have thought that purple and red would tame a quilt down? Oh, Julia, that’s who! And I do love the back. Excellent job.

Thank you for sending me all the head starts! I was skeptical about the purple until I put it next to the yellow. It works!
I am proud of our group. If I could only convince them there’s no such thing as a “boy” quilt and a “girl” quilt, we would get along great, lol

Wow what nice fabric you got for Linus. I can’t imagine having that much fabric. It would be like a personal store to shop in. I like your idea for the plush panel. It’s cute and will totally work for Applique.

We get a lot of really nice fabric donated. Some not as nice and you just make it work. This was mostly really good quality fabric. I don’t play with panels much so I though these might be fun. I already have some plans brewing for my dinos. But it’s behind another top I already just started with some fabric I had brought home previously and never put away. Ahem. SO I refused to start a new Linus top without doing one with this fabric first.
Speed control is basically driving me insane. And so far I’m not getting much help from tech support. Fingers crossed they’ll get back to me tomorrow. Meanwhile, I’ve been doing some fussy cutting.

Wow! You got some nice fabric. I’ve always been curious how to use a panel to make a quilt. I’m going to need to look into that. Glad you are excited about the possibilities for your quilt. It sounds like you will have lots of fun.

If you mean the pillow panel with the dinos, I was thinking applique. The redwork I’m going to have to cut up and piece back together. So who knows! We have a lady in my PL group that sort of specializes in panels. She is so good at choosing border fabric to make them bigger! Or adding squares of fabric in weird spots where bits have been cut out.
