TTMT #302 – jewells68 – March 19, 2019 – Makin’ Progress

I could have edited this more, but am running short on time. Doing this on my lunch break! I’m working on last year’s swap quilt while also finishing up quilting my first quilt on the frame so far this year!

  1. I’m so excited that your leaders are finished and you have a quilt on there! I think the ticking is genius!

Your swap blocks are looking great. I know you’ll keep playing until you love it. And you will love it when it gets there. Love your restraint (I’m sure it is motivating).

    Have a great week.

    1. Finished the quilt last night. It felt good to finally get one on and off the frame in 2019.

My main problem is I don’t really feel like making more but I think in order to get a layout I like I’m going to need to make more. And that quilt is so 2018, lol.

  2. Yay for having the quilt from Susan on the frame, woo! Quilt, quilt, quilt!

Super duper EXTRA yay for having your 2018 TTMT blocks on the design wall!! I put the signatures wherever they went. I went with colors over everything else. NO regrets. And, oh my gosh, on point would be amazing!

If you need to quilt bigger, I know someone who can help you. *waggles eyebrows*

    1. Susan’s first quilt is done quilting and off the frame. I need to figure out a solution for quilting the bottom few inches of the quilt. I’ve tried pinning and hand basting, but it’s really hard to keep the quilt top taut and smooth for easy quilting the las few inches. So my quilting down there always looks erratic.

I think my biggest stumbling block is that there aren’t enough blocks to do any of the designs I want even with adding in Vicky’s extra block and my oops blocks. I don’t feel like piecing more blocks, but I’m leaving it up there til I make a decision, and seeing it up there that will prod me.

I know I have been avoiding buying fabric but I am taking P to Joann today to pick out fabric for a pillowcase or two. So I’m thinking of buying some neutral greys for background on both the 2018 and 2019 swap quilts. I’ve never had much in the way of grey, and I think it will go nicely with all the different fabrics.

  3. I am so stoked to see that bright green and yellow quilt with the purple border to tone it down.
As for the 2018 swap quilt – kudos to you for making that decision. Personally, I kind of loved that one of the blocks is upside down; makes this traditional quilt kind of quirky (sort of like this group). Anyway, I am looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

    1. Making the quilt on point made almost everyone sideways, but you are still upside down. I decided I just really wanted the points all the same direction. I think it still works!
