TTMT Video

Finally some sewing!

So…I still don’t like to film for incomplete projects, but I AM finally sewing again and thought I could share a few in progress pictures of the current project. While I’m already pretty sure this isn’t going to be quite as good of a shape as I was hoping and will likely need to tweak the pattern and make another at some point, I am super excited to get this finished. Out of curiosity, is it obvious to you guys what I’m making?

    1. I mean…I obviously didn’t MAKE the base, so I may have included a picture of that for hinting purposes. Also because pretty. Tis indeed a dress form.

  1. Well, I mean, I KNOW what it is, but it’s kind of cheating since I’ve had a running commentary on the construction.

I have said it before and will keep saying it, TTMT is for progress videos, too. Sharing what you’re doing as you’re doing it is different than sharing a finished piece. It allows everyone to see how you’re doing whatever it is, allows feedback, and sometimes you learn something or someone learns from your process. You can do it. *makes mom face*

    1. My first thought was that you are making a bathing suit – kind of a one-piece vintage style.
I love seeing works in progress, especially when it is crafters/artists who are involved in projects that I cannot even begin to fathom. Seeing all the different things is one of the reasons I love this group!

      1. Vintage one piece bathing suit is actually on my list of things to make! Because sadly I can’t find one piece suits in stores that are long enough to not risk terrible wardrobe malfunctions. O_O

    2. I should probably find more people to ramble my running commentary to…I just know that while you might not have a great idea what I’m talking about (because clothes vs quilting) you aren’t likely to be bored silly by my rambling.

Oh dear, not the dreaded mom face. 😛 Okay, okay, I can try to show more in progress stuff. I just have to figure out HOW to do that since I feel like my 3 dimensional work is more difficult to show off when incomplete (because it won’t hold its shape) than flat quilt blocks and such… The dress form might actually help with that. Think I could drape incomplete bodice pieces over the form to show them?

  2. I know too so I won’t cheat, because I am constantly chatting with Jennifer. I think it’s a fantastic idea, but don’t feel like you can’t share your progress along the way!

    1. The consensus seems to be that I need to show more works in progress, I just need to figure out a way to do that that I can be satisfied with. Re dress form: I’ve wanted to make one for AGES, ever since I realized that a standard size form wouldn’t work for me even if I tried padding one out to reflect my proportions and shape better. I’ve just been procrastinating terribly on making the thing.
