In which I say farewell to 2018 and hello to the new year… or some crap like that. Finished projects, new crafty goals, keepin’ it simple.

  1. I have always loved mug rugs, and wonder why I don’t make them anymore.
    I knew you had to take out all the stitching on the bear panel, but didn’t want to mention it to you. You seemed like you were on a mission. A lot of things that become “available” are from people who have given up after messing things up. You reminded me of my mother teaching me to embroider (she learned from the nuns in boarding school) and knots were absolutely not allowed. And those things will last forever. I’m so happy you’re saving this panel from its abusive past.
    14 blankets is certainly an impressive number. I’m so impressed.
    I know I’m excited about your lofty crafty goals. My list, also, is a no-sweat list of things I hope to do, but others will no doubt come up and others will be done as planned.

    1. I will probably take the mug rugs tomorrow, even though I know some folks will be out the rest of the week.

      I was thinking of basically leaving the stitcking as is and adding a new back wiuthout taking this one off, so that it was all in the middle, but it just felt so weird.

      My minimum goal on all UFOs is to at least move them on to the next stage of making, if I finish the, that’s great but I won’t stress about it.

  2. I think 14 Linus quilts is VERY impressive. That’s awesome. For the last few year, my husband has asked me, ‘Are you having fun?’ when I’m having trouble or being crabby about a project. That has really helped me decide what I’m doing and why. If been able to stop several projects and pass the along to someone else. These activities are supposed to make us happy.

    1. I wish I could say I had made 14 quilts, but at the most it was half that, but 6 or 7 with some crocheted and some fleece are still good I think.

      I used to really stress myself out, that’s the main reason I don’t swap anymore, or if I do it’s just the one annual one here on TTMT. I’m trying to avoid QALs too because other folks maybe are retired and have more home time, and I’m rather competitive and start feeling bad because I am not keeping up with everyone else. I don’t like to bury myself away from the rest of my family the whole time I’m home from work, so I tend to get most of my crafting done in the evening after dinner or if I take a half day off of work so that I’m home alone to craft.

      We are in this for fun and sometimes we have to remind ourselves it isn’t a competition.

  3. Woo for a new project board and double woo for not taking it so seriously! I’m cracking up because I thought the clipboard was about four times as big. No idea why!!

    The mugrugs came out great. I recognize so many of those fabrics, especially the coffee ones. 😀

    I think unquilting that whole panel was a good call. It’ll be cute and snuggling when you get it quilted.

    Also, still cracking up over “or some crap like that.”

    1. You thought that because I sent you an EXTREME closeup, lol.

      Yep, I think the sugar skulls came from you, possibly. maybe samples. they were pinked around the edges. But yeah, they have cropped up in various projects throughout the years. One of the wine fabrics came from you too I think. The black one. The rest were from the original wine quilt I made.

      Bear Panel is spray basted. Am thinking of pulling the 301A out to quilt it. I have an extension table for it, but not one for the pfaff. Haven’t decided yet.

      I started to write something a little more verbose about the new year, and then went, “nah!” Also cut over 5 minutes from this video, lol.

    I knew you’d take that panel apart and start over! You just do not do anything by half measure.

    Congratulations on busting your goal wide open!

    I like your new board. I had great intentions of keeping up with mine last year but flubbed up about halfway into the year. I will try again this year by setting up a table on the computer. I find that easier to move things around, add projects, etc.

    1. I shouldn’t have even put a year on it, as I really just wanted it up to remind me what stuff I have been wanting to do or what stuff I have in a bin somewhere. Otherwise I forget all about them, lol. I’m already rethinking how I designed it, but I love having it right there above my cutting space.

  5. Too bad you weren’t able to leave in that quilting, it makes sense for sure why you took it apart, but it’s too bad it turned into a bigger job than you’d hoped for.

    Great Mug Rugs! I like you new project board. It reminded me of the one I have hidden in the corner. I need a more visible location for mine. It helpful to remember what we’ve started but also what we’ve finished. 14 is wow! Impressive number. That’s gotta feel good.

    Yay for keeping it causal! If you find it stressing you, it’s not a good hobby anymore.

    1. So agreed. I get so competitive, even if it’s just with myself, and then I get depressed because I am not living up to my expectations. So my goal is to keep it “calm and serene in 2019” lol
