I wish you’d be nicer to yourself. Your work looks wonderful and your swap partner will be so glad to get it. I think we all look too closely at our work and don’t appreciate how well we sew, knit, cook, etc because there are many others who can’t do it at all.

Thank you Sarah! I don’t mean to sound down on myself about the box – I really love it a lot! – it’s more just trying to talk about some of the problem solving that went into the making of it. There’s always some kind of problem solving!

I saw (and liked!) your “intentionally ugly stitches) on your IG. They were a great solution. The trinket box is so incredibly sweet. I always love seeing the tiny containers and pouches you make.

That fabric box/pouch is really cute. It looks like a train case only made from fabric. That’s pretty cool. And what a great way to showcase the embroidery!
I hope you and/or your camera is ok… did you drop it there at the end or was that just you falling down? 😛

Haha… I dropped it. Well, it fell.. I got this clamp thing to attach it to my table and the clamp kind of just skidded right off the thing it was clamped around. It didn’t go to far at least and it isn’t a great camera, so it wasn’t the worst thing in the world for it to fall.
Thanks for the nice comments about the box … it’s a neat pattern and surprisingly easy to put together (except for the top stitching).

I’m fascinated by that thing hanging above your head. You probably mentioned it in a prior video, and I don’t know how I missed it. Those colors are great and I’d like to see what it’s going to be.
I don’t know if the few seconds at the end of your vdeo were intentional, but they made me smile…felt like “I’m just going inside of here and zipping up and will come out after Christmas” symbolism.

Is it the blue and purple one on the right side of the screen or all the greens and blues more to the left? I haven’t talked about the blue and purple in years (and possibly maybe never… I’m not sure I was recording videos when I started working on that one) – it’s a weirdly constructed (I mean, not really, but its all partial seams) quilt that I crapped out on half way through because it’s so difficult to work on (each piece you insert you sew into the main body of the quilt, so it just gets bigger and heavier with every bit of sewing). The blue and green is the start of a sampler type quilt made of blocks of all sorts of sizes, so I’m going to have to do some work to figure out how to put it all together 😀
Haha… funny about the ending 😀 The camera fell before I even started talking, but I just let it keep recording and I snipped most of it off but rescued that bit because it kind of amused me too. I like your interpretation though!

The tinket box is fabulous. The ‘intentional” bad stitching is a good solution. I’m terrible on rounded things. It never occurred to me it was my machine…just me. I’ll have to look into that more and figure out if my machine has a better option foot for curves. The embroidery is really beautiful. I like the cathedral window pin cushion colors together. I’m guessing you’ll have a happy swap pattern.

The top-stitching on the lid was largely my fault – the pattern had recommended using a Denim needle, which I bought and then forgot to use so I was struggling to get through all the layers, particularly where the handle was inserted and I could have taken some of the pressure off the presser foot, which would have helped, but I didn’t, and so there were some jigs and jogs where I ran up against things and the needle slipped out of line. And then I had skipped stitches (because of the weak needle) so I did a second loop around, which isn’t a great look either. All the top-stitching was totally invisible on the top of the lid because the thread matched so well, but since the inside was peach it stood out SO Much. The problem that I mentioned with the machine was for top-stitching the body of the box, which is shaped a bit like a stiff sleeve and that part I do blame on my machine not having a free arm to work around 😀 I feel like I’ve heard tell of curved foots though, or feet that are supposed to help with curves. My machine definitely hasn’t got such a thing, but it could be useful!
Thanks for the nice comments! I really do like the colours together in the box… I’m not sure why the pin cushion is kind of eh for me since it’s all the same fabrics! Funny how things like that work, isn’t it?
