TTMT 2019 Swap/Challenge

Thank you for your feedback! This post has been edited with final swap details!

Hello, friends!

For the 2019 Swap, I want to try something completely different.

Let’s swap 2 1/2″ strips and make TTMT Jelly Rolls!

The number of 2 1/2″ strips sent to each person will depend on how many people sign up. The goal is for each person to send and receive 40 unique strips. This will be a stash buster using fabric that reflects who you are or something you like. With that in mind, I am asking that swappers not use pre-cut jelly rolls. Also, I kind of detest the pinked edges those have! 😉

Swappers will send their strips to me and I will make and ship jelly rolls. Your strips are due by the week of February 28, 2019. Jelly rolls (or possibly jelly sandwiches!) will ship no later than March.

Detailed instructions will be sent to each swapper at the beginning of January. Please don’t send ANYTHING until then. We need to know how many swappers we have first.

  • If you are in the U.S. – please send return postage for a flat rate envelope. This can be a postage paid address label, a stamp, cash, check, or PayPal. I’m flexible. 😉 I prefer padded Flat Rate envelopes for shipping fabric, but this is your choice. I can also ship in a regular flat rate envelope.
  • If you are not in the U.S. – please send your strips and I’ll figure out the shipping on this end.
  • If shipping costs are prohibitive for you, please email me and we’ll work something out. ♥

Once all strips/jelly rolls are received by our TTMT Swappers, I challenge you to make a project with your 2 1/2″ strips by the end of 2019!  The Challenge is optional, but I think it would make for some very fun future videos! 😀

The 2019 TTMT Jelly Roll Swap & Challenge is open to anyone who has made a TTMT video and posted to the WordPress site in the last six months. TTMTers who have previously posted videos but have been absent for a while have until the end of December 2018 to share a video in order to participate in the swap. Just to reiterate, this swap/challenge is ONLY for TTMT video contributors.

Sign-ups are Closed! 🙂

The deadline to sign up is December 31, 2018.

Questions, etc, always welcome.

  1. Welp…I was going to start back with videos after the first of the year but looks like I may have to get on the ball next month. 😀 Though it would be far more work for you I think the idea of sending you strips and you putting together and shipping jelly rolls would be less confusing – for me, anyway – and save multiple trips to the post office. Pretty sure if I got them individually I’d lose some of them. Is there some way to know how much postage would be so we could send a pre-addressed, postage paid mailer/box? Maybe we could all include a FQ for Linus as a thank you? I dunno, just tell me what to do. One of my goals next year is to participate in TTMT more.

    1. I’d love to see you back before the end of the year AND to have you swapping again!

I’d be more than happy to make all the jelly rolls and send them out at one time. Since the goal is a jelly roll, I think doing flat rate padded envelopes would work fine. I might send a jelly sandwich instead of a roll! 😉

Edited to add…no thank you necessary, I’m just happy to get to swap with my TTMT family!

  2. 🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️ Oh me me I’m in 🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️
I was so bummed I didn’t start Ttmt in time for the 2018 Swap.

I filled my form out and I’ll be eyeballing fabrics for it 😁

  3. I’m in and I don’t care what the shpping arrangement are. I have been wanting to make a jelly-roll quilt, and I’ll be ready. This will be so much fun. I’ll sign up right now.
Thank you for always making my life so much more intersting.

  4. Love this idea. I do want to play! I just saw a Missouri State video of a rail fence star quilt that looks like lots of fun. That would be my goal. Thank Jennifer!

  5. After everyone started swapping this year I was a bit disappointed that I didn’t join in. I’m signing up this year though!! I like the idea of everyone sending to you Jennifer as long as it’s not too much for you. I think It would be easier to keep track of. Then we can all send a self address flat rate envelope (here in the US) with our strips.

    1. Yay, I’m glad you’ll be joining us! I wasn’t sure if y’all would be as excited about this as I am, but everyone has been very enthusiastic and I’m always happy to host.

I was thinking the same on the flat rate envelopes. They are my go-to for domestic shipping. It would be easier, and more fun, for everyone to receive their “rolls” at once. Like I said above, they may be jelly sandwiches for easier shipping. 😉

    1. So, when you order these prepaid, they put our own address as the return address. CAn you mail stuff from Austin with our own address as the recipient AND the return addresses? I can’t find anything on the USPS site about that. Otherwise I’m not sure how to do this for the flat rate packaging.

      1. I’ve sent mail from not-my-post-office with paid postage with my zip code with no problem, so I don’t think it matters. We could do a test run to make sure, though. For anyone who doesn’t want to pre-pay, I accept cash or check. 😉

  6. So for a week now, I’m dreaming of jelly roll designs….thank you very much! I’m working on one I really like (and then when I finish the design I’m going to have to WAIT!). But, you know when I get a design in my head I have to get it onto paper or it either disappears or won’t let me go. I am really excited about this one. Thought I would mention that, since I’m sure none of you noticed. Like all of you, I like but pass on thousands of projects…but a few catch my eye like this one.

  7. Hi Jennifer, just wanted to let you know, I am not going to able to join the swap for 2019.
But will be posting videos again, have been doing some sewing, and have 1 video to share, hopefully today.
