Water, water everywhere….

Just stopping in to let you all know….during our severe cold spell we had (something like 7 days straight below freezing, nights in the single digits) the water line out to my studio burst. Long story short, all the carpet will have to be replaced, probably some of the underflooring and insulation, trim and baseboards, and I’m going to have the sink in there removed.  Thankfully most of my material was up off the floor, some was in contact with it but will be salvageable.  I’ve lost some material, some things of sentimental value, probably a few hundred dollars worth of weaving yarn on large cones, and may have to replace my cutting table and sewing machine table.  Everything, and I mean everything, is going to either have to be put in the garbage where warranted or carted out to a storage bin that the repair company will bring tomorrow, and after everything’s fixed comes the huge task of getting what’s left back in.  Think of the show “Hoarders” and you’ll know what we’re all in for.  🙂 I”m physically unable to help, so hopefully the men with the company will do the hauling.  Meanwhile, I have a lot of thinking to do in the next few days.  It’s become clear to me that I have a lot of stuff in there that needs to go, it just has to.  What do I keep, what do I let go of, do I sell it or toss it out.   What’s important to me and where do I want to go from here.  That kind of deep thought thing.

Before any of you kind-hearted folks here say anything, and I know you would, I don’t need a thing and am not asking.  We have a fairly large deductible on our home insurance but we can handle it, and this is clearly going to be a job that will go far beyond that.  I just hope the insurance company doesn’t argue with me over a settlement, which has happened before with our roof after hail damage from a nearby tornado.  Anyway, I’m fine.  I could’ve been so much worse than it is. And in the long run, it may turn out to be a good thing, something that’s made me re-evaluate where I am in life and think about what direction I’ll go in after the dust settles.

So yeah, it may be awhile before another video is forthcoming, and it’s been about 10 months since the last one!  But I’ll do one eventually if just to say hi.  Love you guys – stay crafty!
