Somewhere over the rainbow…

Hi everyone,

Just popping in to say hi. I have been following all your news, all the hurricanes, and the Linus quilt drive. And the fires on the west coast. I am so happy everyone is OK. And that so many people donated quilts to Linus. I wish I could have contributed to that.

Happy birthday to everyone this month.

I can’t seem to drag myself out of my slump, since my own bad news. Only 1 block sewn in 3 weeks. The amount of times I have sat down at my sewing desk to try and sew something, and then just sit there crying is to many to count.

The short story is this;

My brother’s little 3 year old girl, passed away on 2 September. She choked on an Ice Cream cone, then fell into the pool. They were at a holiday resort when it happened, and someone started cpr straight away, then the paramedics tried to revive her for over 2 hours. My brother and sister and law was watching her the whole time. It was a freak accident.

Her death broke me.

They have asked me to turn her tiny little clothes into a quilt, which I will happily do. When I get the guts together to open the container…and not cry all over her clothes.

The plan of action for this week, is to make something and then be back next week with some blocks to show in my video with a big smile on my face.

I have also designed and cut out a pattern to turn into a pillow cover for my sister’s little boy. That needs to be finished by end of September. So I need to get a hold of myself and get going.

And no pun intended, but a rainbow came into my life and it is cheering me up.  I will finish a queen size one, to fit my bed.

  2. I don’t even know where to start. I wish I could give you a real-life hug right now and do something, anything, to help. Please let me know if there is ANYTHING I can do, okay? I mean it.

    I’m happy the Rainbow project has cheered you up, if even a tiny, tiny bit. ♥

  3. I wish there was a way we could be there to help you with the quilt. This is so devastating I can’t even imagine the heartbreak for you all. All you can do is take one day at a time and if sewing a rainbow helps then by all means sew the rainbow!
